During his funeral in Queens, N.Y., on Friday, activist Harry Wieder was remembered as an outspoken, passionate, and singular individual.
The New York Times reports that luminaries like New York city council speaker Christine Quinn and writer Andrew Solomon attended the funeral for Wieder, an activist who fought for the rights of gay and disabled people -- Wieder himself was a disabled and nearly deaf dwarf. Quinn delivered the eulogy for Wieder, who was killed Tuesday night by a taxi.
"You weren't done talking to Harry until he was done talking to you," Quinn said. "Harry went out of his way to be devilish, and as we continue to struggle in his name, we need to maybe be a little more devilish ourselves."
