Twilight fanatics (or Twihards, as they're known in parlance), are apparently a tough demographic to please, thus a recent letter to the fan base written by Bill Condon, the Academy Award-winning writer-director of Gods and Monsters who's been tasked with creating the latest installment of the series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
"Like many of you, I've always been slightly obsessed with vampires, dating back to the prime-time series Dark Shadows, which I followed avidly as a kid." Condon wrote. "But that alone hadn't been enough to get me interested in making a vampire movie, even though my early screenwriting and directing efforts grew out of a great love for horror movies and thrillers. Since making Gods and Monsters thirteen years ago, however, I've been yearning for a return to a story with Gothic overtones."
Summit Entertainment announced last week that it had tapped Condon for the latest in the Twilight series, which has grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
The full letter is available at Deadline New York.
