Anti-Incumbent Mood Rules Super Tuesday
Primary elections Tuesday brought triumphs for the activist bases in both the Democratic and Republican parties.
As Politico.com reports, "The 2010 electorate has swallowed an emetic -- disgorging in a series of retching convulsions officeholders in both parties who seem to embody conventional Washington politics."
High-profile losses include the defeat of Sen. Arlen Specter, a five-term incumbent from Pennsylvania who switched to the Democratic party last year. He was defeated by Rep. Joe Sestak.
On the Republican side, Rand Paul, a favorite of Tea Party activists, won the senate primary in Kentucky, defeating Secretary of State Trey Grayson.
