Gay Friends Named Prom King and Queen
A high school in Hudson, New York took a leap forward Saturday by naming two gay best friends, Charlie Ferrusi and Timmy Howard, prom king and queen.
According to the Register-Star, students at Hudson High School overwhelmingly approved the idea, and school officials and their parents supported their decision to run.
"By prom night the overwhelming majority of students cast their votes in the open ballot race," reported the Register-Star. "They won by such a wide margin the school didn't crown any runners up."
Ferrusi and Howard said the toughest part of the experience was deciding who would be king and who would be queen. Based on their research, the young men believe they are the first such pair to be recognized.
