Expect an entertaining, fast-moving evening when Sean Hayes hosts the 64th annual Tony Awards on Sunday night, according to the Los Angeles Times. During a phone interview with the Times to discuss the awards show, the Promises, Promises star made no mention of whether he will address the notorious Newsweek article that questioned his ability to effectively portray a straight character. Hayes, who is also a Tony nominee for Best Actor in the hit musical, did say of costar Kristin Chenoweth, who publicly blasted the Newsweek article as homophobic, that "she's an extraordinary talent and an amazing human being who's been such a huge support system for me."
Despite the brouhaha since the publication of the Newsweek article, Hayes calls his otherwise much-acclaimed Broadway debut in Promises, Promises "one of the most challenging experiences of my entire life" and "one of the best experiences of my life."
