George Michael was arrested and released early Sunday morning after he lost control of his Range Rover and ran into the front door of a London Snappy Snaps photo store.
As a photo on The Sun's website shows, the reported impact shattered glass in the front of the store.
Michael issued a statement saying, "I want to apologize to my fans for screwing up again, and to promise them I'll sort myself out. And to say sorry to everybody else, just for boring them."
On Monday police would confirm only that "a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive," and a spokesman for the singer refused to comment.
The Sun reports that Michael was released on bail soon after being arrested and must return to court to face charges next month.
This is the latest in a series of arrests for the singer. His driver's license was revoked in 2007 after he was deemed to have been driving under the influence.
