Watchdogs of "liberal media bias" argue that MSNBC anchor Contessa Brewer demonstrates a "conflict of interest" by advocating on air for the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" and agreeing to appear at a Kentucky gay rights fund-raiser later this month.

According to Newsbusters, Brewer said Monday on MSNBC that overturning the military's discriminatory policy is a "civil rights issue," while failing to mention that she is the featured guest at the fund-raiser on July 24 in Kentucky for Fairness Over Louisville. The press release says that she will "speak on the need for a statewide anti-discrimination Fairness law in the Commonwealth from a national news perspective."

Says Newsbusters, which monitors "liberal media bias": "This type of conflict of interest certainly isn't new for journalists. In 2009, former CBS anchor Dan Rather appeared at a $200 a person fundraiser for the hard-left Nation magazine."
