Fresh from his arrest last week at the GetEqual protest in Las Vegas, Lt. Dan Choi appeared on Gayle King's radio show to talk about being discharged, the future of "don't ask, don't tell" and why coming out is so important.
"It's been a rollercoaster," Choi said. "It's painful. As much as we predict that it's going to be OK, that we saw it coming anyway, the law is the law -- as much as I prepared for it, it still hurt."
King made it clear where she stands on the issue -- "This is just not right... if I was putting it in writing, it would be in capital letters and exclamation points" -- while Choi says he's hoping his activism will help the world see "the importance of equality" in our society.
