Rosie O'Donnell will return to daytime television as the host of a new talk show for Oprah Winfrey's to-be-launched cable network, OWN.
The show, based in New York, is described as a "fun, uplifting show with Ms. O'Donnell's playful and energetic style." O'Donnell will also produce the show, and said she is excited to be back on daytime television.
OWN is scheduled to launch in January with a slate of shows including Gayle King Live! and Why Not? with Shania Twain. In a statement released Thursday, Winfrey said O'Donnell is "an undeniable talent who has captivated TV audiences for nearly 20 years. She's a true original, who brings her authentic voice, dynamic energy and pure passion to everything she does."
