Citing the high-profile nature of the 2008 killing of Lawrence King (pictured, right), a 15-year-old gay teen, a judge has ordered that jurors be pulled from a neighboring California county for the trial of accused killer Brandon McInerney (left).
The Los Angeles Times reports that jurors will be drawn from Santa Barbara County, even though King's death took place in Oxnard, in Ventura County. The trial will remain in Ventura County, and officials will provide more details about that during a briefing on Thursday.
McInerney, 14 at the time of the killing, will stand trial as an adult and faces 53 years to life if convicted.
