The New Zealand Teachers Council is investigating allegations that a
school principal attempted to sell gay porn on an Internet
auction site.
A principal from the Manawatu region, who was not identified, is accused of listing the adult film The Club on auction site Trade Me. The council is investigating whether the principal breached his profession's code of ethics.
While it is not illegal to sell pornography provided both parties are over 18, the council will determine whether the behavior is considered indecent for a school principal and if he betrayed the public's trust.
Teachers Council director Peter Lind said people have been reported for accessing porn in the past, but he believes this is the first time a educational professional has been accused of selling porn.
