Chicago will host the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association's annual convention in 2013, the Associated Press reports.

The organization's board selected Chicago at a meeting last week. This will be the first time Chicago has hosted the event; the city was chosen for its "vibrant and diverse" gay population and excellent access to airline service, said IGLTA board chair Tanya Churchmuch.

The 2012 convention will be in Florianopolis, Brazil. The association has more than 2,200 members in 83 countries, including travel agents, tour operators, airlines, and hotels.
