Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson appeared on The Joy Behar Show and discussed his "Trojan horse" theory about a new study that shows Republican viewers like the sitcom, which focuses on a gay couple.

Behar asked Ferguson about the new study, which shows the ABC series, in which Ferugson and Eric Stonestreet play the gay couple Mitchell and Cam, is a favorite of Republicans.

"We definitely focus a lot on family values and the core family and bringing up kids in a great way," he said. "It just so happens that there's this gay couple."

Ferguson said he felt relieved by the study and its potential for quiet impact.

"We call it the Trojan horse," he said. "We kind of sneak in there sometimes and they don't realize they're enjoying this."
