The new Miss California Teen USA crown has been dedicated to the Love Is Louder campaign against bullying.
The crown valued at $250,000 is crafted of diamonds, other precious gems, and metals. It will be unveiled Saturday night at the Beauty of California dinner in Palm Springs with help from current Miss California Teen USA Emma Baker and crown designer Peter Young, according to a news release:
"Designed by Peter Young, Creative Director of INTA Gems & Diamonds, the Miss California Teen USA crown is inspired by the natural beauty of California and incorporates symbolic ocean waves and sun rays shining upon the curving California coastline, which together, form a heart to symbolize love. On the inside base of the crown is the inscription, 'Love is Louder.' Young also incorporated natural purple sapphires in the crown to memorialize those who've taken their lives because of bullying; and also to remind those who wear the crown of its symbolic purpose -- to speak out on behalf of those who are in pain."
The Love Is Louder campaign against bullying was started by actress Brittany Snow, the Jed Foundation, and MTV in response to the recent series of youth suicides.
The new Miss California Teen USA will be crowned Sunday in Palm Springs.
