Onkemetse Pule and Lawrence Kwataka became the first openly lesbian couple in Botswana when they recently graced The Voice, according to the national tabloid.
The publication called Pule and Kwataka "the first lesbian couple in Botswana to publicly declare their love." Homosexuality remains illegal in the African country.
In the November 26 cover story "Glad to Be Gay," the two women said they met through the tabloid's dating service.
"There was an instant attraction, an unbelievably strong chemistry between us," Kwataka said. "We experienced a strength of feeling that neither of us could understand, but just knew that God had made us for each other."
