Elton John to Perform for Prop. 8 Case Benefit

Elton John will perform at a private event on January 19 in support of the federal lawsuit against Proposition 8, the American Foundation for Equal Rights, which organized and funds the case, announced Tuesday.

The event will be held at the Beverly Hills estate of supermarket magnate Ron Burkle; ticket prices have not yet been disclosed.

In the case, attorneys representing two California gay couples will argue next week that the U.S. court of appeals for the ninth circuit should let stand U.S. district judge Vaughn R. Walker's August ruling striking down the antigay ballot measure as unconstitutional.
