Sigourney Cries for Gay Teens
While appearing on CNN's American Morning to promote the DVD release of her TV movie Prayers for Bobby, Sigourney Weaver got choked up discussing her performance as Mary Griffith, the homophobic mom who became a gay rights crusader after her son took his own life.
Choking back tears, Weaver said, "It was so moving to me, talking to Mary, to hear later on, looking at his baby pictures, God had wanted him to be gay -- that was part of the package, that is part of why he was so wonderful. She loved him so much. It's an education. We need to get this education out into our country."
