Miami U. Remembers Brendan Burke
The members of the Miami University of Ohio ice hockey team remember the late Brendan Burke, their student manager, as being one of the guys.
Burke, who died in a car accident with a friend a year ago this week, came out as gay to his teammates and then publicly in ESPN magazine.
"When he came out to us, you could see it was a relief to him," forward Justin Vaive told CBS Sports.
Burke was the son of Toronto Maple Leafs general Brian Burke, who has become an advocate for gay rights and inclusion of gay people in athletics.
