Mark Samnath of Tamarac, Fla., recalls his December attack at the hands of three men, who filmed themselves as they punched him in the face yelling antigay slurs. He was left with two scars.

Surveillance video of the attack on the 24-year-old man was released Tuesday by the Broward County sheriff's office. Authorities are asking the public for help in apprehending the attackers.

"Because it appears this attack was prompted in part by the victim's sexual orientation, it would be considered a hate crime, according to Florida state statute," said sheriff's office commander Rick Wierzbicki of the department's hate-crime task force.
