Craig Munro was sentenced to jail Monday for mowing down his ex-lover with his car in Australia last year. Brendan Gannaway survived the attack with only minor injuries.

News.com.au
reports that Chief Justice Paul de Jersey of the Queensland Supreme Court sentenced Munro, 36, to four years in jail to be suspended after 16 months for running over Gannaway, 23, last September near Brisbane. Both men worked as shopping center cleaners in Ipswich.

"Prosecutor Sarah Farnden said Munro and Mr Gannaway had been lovers for a short time but the relationship deteriorated after the younger man kissed a woman at a nightclub," according to News.com.au.

Munro planned to confront Gannaway at his workplace, but during the drive there, he saw his ex riding his bicycle and hit him with the car. The men had sent abusive text messages to each other leading up to the incident.

Munro pleaded guilty to one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm. His defense team claimed he had not been taking the correct medication for his schizo-affective disorder at the time.
