The chief spokesperson for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has resigned after being quoted by a blogger saying the reported mistreatment of alleged Wikileaks whistleblower Bradley Manning as "ridiculous and counterproductive and stupid."

The Huffington Post reports that the statement led to an embarrassing question about Manning, who is gay, at a press conference with President Obama. P.J. Crowley (pictured) is out amid "pressure from White House officials because of controversial comments he made last week about the Bradley Manning case," according to CNN.
