The entertainment industry remembers Elizabeth Taylor as one of its greatest, most enduring stars and dedicated activists. Today in Los Angeles, Madame Tussauds will display its $300,000 wax figure of Taylor in one of her signature roles as Cleopatra. Fans are invited to visit and a condolence book has also been put on display for the public to sign. Oscar-winning actor Martin Landau, who costarred with Taylor in the 1963 epic Cleopatra, released a statement, saying, "It's a terrible loss. A unique talent and a singularly spectacular individual."

Gay celebrities and allies to the LGBT community who were friends or merely fans of the late actress are tweeting or releasing their thoughts on the death of Taylor overnight. Below are some notable ones:

Ricky Martin: "Elizabeth Taylor RIP"

Kylie Minogue: "RIP Dame Elizabeth Taylor. Like a white diamond you'll shine on and on and on."

Jane Fonda: "I knew Elizabeth Taylor and I can tell you she was kind, brave, generous and loyal. I am sad."

Joan Rivers: "Sad to hear of Elizabeth Taylor's death. She was the first major celebrity to join me in the fight against AIDS when it wasn't a popular cause."

Magic Johnson: "Elizabeth, thank you for all your help in the battle for HIV and AIDS. You will be missed by the world."

Joy Behar: "Elizabeth Taylor's family is asking in lieu of flowers, that you contribute to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation."

Stephen Fry: "RIP Dame Elizabeth Taylor, surely the last of a breed."

Ross Matthews: "I was honored to meet Elizabeth Taylor a couple times and each time she wore sequins -- such a real deal, official movie star."

Sen. Dianne Feinstein: "California has lost a great star today. Elizabeth Taylor in National Velvet inspired my childhood love of horses. Her passion for life and devotion to those less fortunate will continue to inspire me and others. I send my condolences to her family, and to her fans all over the world. Elizabeth was one of the greats and will be remembered as such."

Margaret Cho: "RIP Elizabeth Taylor queen of the fag hags."

LaToya Jackson: "Liz Taylor was an incredible friend to my brother at his side through some of his most difficult times."

Elton John:"We have just lost a Hollywood giant. More importantly, we have lost an incredible human being."

Taylor's son, Michael Wilding: "My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love."
