Ill. Sheriff on Facebook: 'Fag Jew Boy'

The Schuyler County, Ill., sheriff says he regrets posting a comment on Facebook referring to someone, he claims jokingly, as a "little fag Jew boy."

Don Scheiferdecker says he has no animus toward Jews or gays but was only making a silly comment that he didn't realize could be seen by the public. "He posted it to the Facebook page of a dispatcher, who had used the slang word for a homosexual under the picture of another dispatcher," reports Illinois's Journal Courier, noting the sheriff is new to Facebook.

"I wouldn't say or do anything like that to hurt anyone," he told the newspaper. "I couldn't care less about anyone's religion and sexual preference."
