Announcing "We do not have time for this kind of silliness," President Obama and the White House addressed Donald Trump and the birthers and released his long-form birth certificate Wednesday.

In a statement made at 9:45 a.m. Eastern, Obama addressed concerns that he wasn't born in the United States and was therefore not eligible to serve as president, saying, "We do not have time for this kind of silliness. We've got better stuff to do."

At a press conference in New Hampshire, presidential hopeful Donald Trump took credit for the release of the document. The real estate tycoon and TV host said that in recent weeks he's had investigators looking into the certificate in Hawaii and has been "shocked" by what he's found.

"Today I'm very proud of myself, because I've accomplished something that no one else has been able to accomplish," he said. "I want to look at it, but I hope it's true. ... But he should have done it a long time ago."
