A New York man who pleaded guilty to a hate crime in Baltimore has reportedly donated money to a tolerance-based organization cofounded by his victim.

On Wednesday, Ajit Kapur, 30, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault hate crime for an August 2010 incident in a Baltimore hotel. Seattle resident Richard Tso was heading to his room when he says Kapur yelled a gay slur. Though he ignored the comment, Tso says he was cornered by Kapur in the hallway, attacked, and beaten to the ground.

The Seattle Times reports that the attack led Tso to cofound TAP America, a non-profit "dedicated to strengthening America through tolerance, Americanism, and patriotism."

Tso says Kapur, who received a three-year suspended sentence for the attack, donated $500 to the organization.
