Student Wants Blazers to Say “It Gets Better”
Oregon State University student John Zeller has created an online petition in the hopes of persuading the Portland Trail Blazers to join the It Gets Better program.
The anti-bullying campaign has gained widespread support across the country with politicians, actors, musicians, and now athletes posting videos online assuring LGBT kids that there is life after bullying.
If the Blazers respond to the request, they will be the first NBA team to join the project.
"It would be great if the Blazers themselves would come out in support of it, specifically as an NBA team in the United States," said Zeller to Orgeon's KPTV Fox 12 News. "They are kinda the ones that should be first on this bandwagon to show their support."
Traci Rose, the Trail Blazers' Communication Vice President, said the team is in favor of the idea. "It's absolutely something we would stand together to support, without question," she said, adding that the team's management will brainstorm ideas during the off-season.
