Go Purple: Show Your Spirit
Millions of Americans, including Chaz Bono, Cyndi Lauper, Julianne Moore, and Mia Farrow, will observe tomorrow, October 20, as Spirit Day and wear purple clothing as a sign of support for LGBT youth and to speak out against bullying.
The movement was launched last year by teenager Brittany McMillan as a response to an epidemic of young people who took their own lives as a result of bullying. Tomorrow individuals, schools, organizations, corporations, media professionals, and celebrities will wear purple -- the symbol of spirit on the rainbow flag.
