Glee star Darren Criss says when former presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann asked to pose for a photo with him, he let his good manners override his own politics, in
a new interview with
Details magazine.
The actor, who is currently headlining the Broadway revival of
How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, says when Bachmann asked for a photo with him at a recent
Time magazine event, he agreed. "I never let my politics supersede my manners," he says. "She came up with her husband and they were sweet as can be. She was like, 'My kids love the show. I don't watch it myself, but I'd love it if you could sign these postcards.' It dawned on me that she didn't know what the hell
Glee was."
Criss also reveals what he considers the most surreal moment since his recent stardom, which took place in the English countryside at a birthday party for Prince Azim of Brunei. "I never thought I would meet Mariah Carey, but I really never thought I'd be introduced to her by Whitney Houston," Criss recalls. "She's like, 'Hey, baby, this is Mariah.' I'm like, 'I know. I'm Darren. I don't know what I'm doing here.'"
