Another Republican state senator in New York has lost the backing of his local party after voting for marriage equality and saying, "They can take this job and shove it."

New York state senator Roy McDonald, who represents Saratoga, defied the party line last year when he voted in favor of marriage equality. Elaine Gerber, vice chairwoman of the Wilton Republican Committee said that the same statement would have gotten her fired from her job. "Obviously he didn't care if I fired him," she told The New York Times.

Last week the Erie County Conservative Party said it would not support Mark Grisanti, a Republican from Buffalo, who was one of the four Republicans to vote for the marriage equality bill.
