About a year ago, the world was swept over with the Harlem Shake craze, which was easily my favorite thing in the world, ever. It had everything I loved in one place: a song with a kickass beat, silliness, a twist, and it was as short as my attention span. When I first saw these, I was giving my son a bath and then proceeded to let him get wrinkled as a prune as I laughed my ass off. That turned into us laughing our asses off together as we both watched. Then, a gay lightbulb went on over my head as I realized that we, together, could make the perfect Harlem Shake video.
At first, I wanted to get everyone I knew involved. I was scrambling to think of what neighbors I could call over, or other friends with kids. Then it hit me that simple would be best. Make my son the focus of the whole video, and throw in a bit of "bad Daddy." The result was hilariously fun to make, and a year later he still asks to watch the video.
Without a doubt, my favorite part is when he picked out a wedgie at the five-second mark. And for those who asked me, yes, it is our family room, and yes, it drove me nuts to mess it up. Thankfully, my OCD kicked in afterward and it only took 10 minutes to return it to normal. Enjoy.
