Taking a cue from the success of a gay fellow serviceman, a handsome Marine has used social media to ask a pop star out on a date.

Gay media outlets are swooning over Jaxon McClure, a member of the U.S. Marines, who has sent a musical invitation to the Marine Corps Ball to singer Tori Kelly.

Clad in his fatigues and sitting on a military vehicle, McClure broadcasts his message to Kelly: "I would love for you to be my date at the 240th Marine Corps Ball."

The video, posted to Twitter and other social media outlets, is similiar to Tanner White's video invitation last week to Steve Grand for the same event. The gay "American Boy" singer accepted.

However, McClure also posted videos serenading Kelly on Twitter with Brian McKnight's song "Back at One." He suggests they may be able to do a duet together.

No word yet from Kelly. But judging by the millions of views on Facebook and thousands of retweets on Twitter, McClure should have no problem securing a singing or dancing partner.
