The actress who played Tracy Turnblad in the big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical of Hairspray,Nikki Blonsky, came out as gay in a joyful dance party to the tune of the Diana Ross classic "I'm Coming Out" on TikTok this weekend.

Accompanying the video of her dancing and lip-synching to "There's a new me coming out..." Blonsky wrote, "Hi, it's Nikki Blonsky from the movie I'm Gay!"

Blonsky, 31, landed the plum role in the musical film that starred John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jennifer Hudson, and Zach Efron.

Hairspray was Blonsky's first film role. She's since gone on to appear in the TV series Huge and Smash, the indie queer film The Geography Club, and the Julianne Moore film The English Teacher. In 2017, she appeared in the off-Broadway production of Lisa Lampanelli's Stuffed.

Blonsky is one of several celebrities who've come out this Pride Month, including Chyler Leigh, Lili Reinhart, Taylor Schilling, and soccer star Thomas Beattie.
