After announcing their engagement in February 2021, Adam Rippon and Jussie-Pekka Kajaala have tied the knot. Rippon announced the news on Instagram.

"SURPRISE WE ARE MARRIED," the former Olympian skater wrote. "One afternoon JP and I looked at each other and said the very classic *romantic* phrase of 'let's just go do it now.' So we did. It was just the three of us and it was perfect."

The two had proposed to one another as a part of a date night in December 2020 at Hotel Kamp in Helsinki. This came after meeting off of Tinder in 2018.

Rippon had previously explained that the two were thinking of getting married at City Hall.

"Do I need a wedding if I make every day about me?" he asked. "Probably not. I probably need a day off. So, courthouse: logical, cheap. Me: logical and cheap."

They were separated for months as Kajaala awaited his visa process. In December they reunited in California.

"I think everybody knew that we were going to do it and I think nobody knew if we were going to give them a heads up or not. And I guess we didn't even know if we were giving ourselves a heads up," Rippon told People of the wedding. "Listen, we're unpredictable."

The ceremony happened in Los Angeles's Encino neighborhood. The third attendee was their 4-month-old dog, Tony. They exchanged their engagement rings instead of getting new bands.

At the moment they do not plan to have children.
