TikTok star and creator of the viral "Days of Girlhood" series Dylan Mulvaney has spoken out in a video posted to her social media accounts Thursday about the recent controversy surrounding her brand deal with Bud Light — all while never referring to Bud Light or its parent company Anheuser-Busch by name.

"Trans people like beer too," the post's caption reads.

Mulvaney begins the video by drinking a glass of beer and saying that she "love[s] beer" and always has.

"I took a brand deal with a company that I loved," she continues, "and I posted a sponsored video to my page, and it must have been a slow news week because the way that this ad got blown up you would have thought that I was like on a billboard, on a TV commercial or something major. But no, it was just an Instagram video."

Mulvaney announced the partnership on April 1, prompting a flurry of hateful responses from figures on the right, among them Kid Rock, who posted footage of himself shooting Bud Light cans with a rifle on social media.

In her post, Mulvaney states that she's talking about the controversy now because "what transpired from that video was more bullying and transphobia than I could have ever imagined."

"I should have made this video months ago," she adds, "but I didn't, and I was scared...and I felt personally guilty for what transpired."

Mulvaney then reveals that although she was waiting for Anheuser-Busch to reach out about the backlash, they never did.

"For a company to hire a trans person and then not publicly stand by them is worse, in my opinion, than not hiring a trans person at all," she says. "To turn a blind eye and pretend everything is okay, it just isn't an option right now."

Near the end of the video, Mulvaney asks viewers to support all trans people. "Bottom line...if you follow me, if I made you smile, if you care about me, I need you to care about every trans person."
