Out country star Orville Peck has put the remaining shows of his "Bronco" tour on hold due to declining mental and physical health. The tour, which began on June 20, will be paused indefinitely.
The South African singer announced the postponement Wednesday on Instagram, and shared that he was "heartbroken" over the news.
"This was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I’ve come to realize that my current mental and physical health won’t allow me to bring you my best,” Peck wrote. "My fans mean the absolute world to me and I am so incredibly thankful to every single person who has bought a ticket to come and see us play, I do not take it for granted.”
"Being on stage is my favourite thing in the world," he continued, "But I have to take this time to replenish my mind and body so that I can come back stronger and healthier than before, in order to do what I love for many years to come. I truly hope you can understand.”
"See you soon and sending all of my love," the post concludes.
Peck is not alone in cutting tour dates over health concerns. Last month, nonbinary singer Sam Smith ended one concert abruptly and cancelled two others due to a vocal chord injury.
The summer leg of the Bronco tour kicked off with a sold-out show at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York and was set to conclude on August 10 in New Mexico. As part of the 11-date run, Peck had planned stops in a number of cities, including Columbus, Cleveland, Asbury Park, Indianapolis, Omaha, and Kansas City.
The Bronco tour began as a series of concerts held last summer and continued earlier this spring. In the interim, Peck performed at prominent music festivals like Coachella, Stagecoach, and Boston Calling.
