Mr. Young, center, with the gathering storm
On March 4, the sprightly Austin Young girded his lenses to tame and capture his subjects for the largest drag portrait ever attempted. As part of Drag Angeles, an ongoing series of events and exhibitions, Mr. Young sent out the cattle call to “all drag artists of today and yesterday to come to the West Hollywood Library for a historic group photo.”
Then there was a strict hour-by-hour schedule to accommodate check-in, dressing, and photo prep. The whole enterprise was followed by the Official Drag Angeles After Party at Mickey’s in West Hollywood.
The results were also combined into a huge collage that is scheduled to hang in the West Hollywood Library for the run of the show. See more about Drag Angeles here. And see more of Austin Young’s dazzling work here.
