Above: Caccamo. Below, read about the photographer, Bjoern Engeloch.
Working with Bjoern Engeloch to assemble this photo gallery was an experience both sweet and exacting. Looking at his work, especially his self-portraits, an interest in the natural lunacy of human behavior is apparent. Muscle boys with chicken heads, facial bondage, and underwear headgear all depict the mind of a man who wants to think beyond the blandness of a lovely portrait. In our souls, we are silly and absurd, but in a beautiful way. Engeloch depicts our idiosyncrasies as sexy and full of vitality.
Bjoern wrote to us (and we did not correct his text, as it would lose the charm): “In photography, I have found a way to express my feelings and thoughts in a creative way. The work behind the camera in the various fields such as portrait, fashion, or concept photography has been giving me great joy for almost 10 years. To hold on to the reality or to alienate it in pictures I like especially well.”
You can see more of his work here in a previous Advocate gallery, “Getting Dirty, Swiss Style,” and on his website. Follow him on Facebook.
