John Fink's portrait series, Real Men Real Life, depicts natural men, perfectly imperfect, just the way we like them.
John Fink is doing what he loves, photographing men. And the men he loves are basically all of them. What caught our eye was his vast selection of regular guys of a certain age. If you like gym coaches, gas station workers, cable repair men, dads, uncles, and bears, Real Men Real Life is your site. And John is alsways open to new guys who want to model for him. Read below John he desribes what he does and why:
"I was in art school in Savannah, developing black-and-white film myself when I realized I wanted to photograph men. A few years later, I came out as a gay man, and I frequented a lot of gay bookstores. They would always have these coffee table books full of chiseled men that I could not relate to in any way. And porn seemed to be full of guys trying to look tough, trying to look like perfect arrogant assholes. I couldn't relate to that either. And it occurred to me that I should be photographing the kind of guys I liked to look at: real, "imperfect" guys.
"In 2004, I purchased my first digital camera, a camera that I felt could match the quality of film. At that point, I went full steam ahead with my idea to photograph real guys. A few years later I came up with the name Real Men Real Life. I see this project as being a lot like myself: perpetually unfinished, always a work in progress and always moving towards improving the game.
"This is about men. I want to photograph all kinds of men from every walk of life. My intention is to honor and respect the beauty and sacredness of these men, and the erotic energy we possess together."
Bless you, John, for your mission. Check out his site (still in progress), Facebook, Tumblr (uncensored), and Instagram. He lists his phone number on Facebook in case you want to go get naked for him and be photographed.
