85 Photos of Anonymous but Intimate Men by Filipe Costa

There is an intensity to Felipe Costa's work that derives from revealing men in very private moments. No matter how civilized we are, there remain in us elements that are savage, ritualistic, and unknowable. Below, Felipe in his own words:

"I'm a Portuguese photographer based in Lisbon.

"I have been photographing male bodies since 2007. My goal is to capture men's intimate and private moments and bring them into the public eye. The result is a collection of homoerotic shots born from my voyeuristic personality.

"What gets my attention is the anonymous body in a highly intimate mood. This mood allows them to dream about their fantasies without boundaries for my camera. I'm not looking for any specific body types in particular, my focus is on masculine attitude.

"There's nothing previously thought out for the photo shoot. I need to speak with the guy and understand if he's willing to join into my world. The fact that I don't show any faces is a plus, as men feel much more comfortable in sharing their attitude with the camera.

"It's quite interesting when two guys can get to this level of trust for a photography project. I am very grateful to the men I have worked with for the trust and generosity in sharing such intimate moments."
