Ewoud Broeksma's photos capture athletes at their peak condition and in a natural, unself-conscious state. Read more below.
Athletes can be driven and goal-oriented. Sometimes their bodies are pushed to extreme limits. The athlete can regard his body as a tool rather than the aesthetic scuplture we might see. Renowned Netherlands photo artist Ewoud Broeksma tried to evoke the feeling in these images of men unaware of their own beauty.
Placing the athletes outdoors, in the water, in natural settings brought out natural grace in both form and behavior.
Ewoud Broeksma, like Eadweard Muybridge, has devoted much of his career to examining the physiques of sportsmen, recording them, and celebrating the poetry of an athlete in motion. Because of his dedication and the quality of his work, sports personalities from all over the world have posed for Broeksma.
You can discover more of Ewoud's work and see the prints and images he has for sale on his new website. The site includes an array of athletes in "pure" (nude) form. You can also find Ewoud on Facebook.
Ewoud works with Mooi-Man gallery in the Netherlands. It offers some of Ewoud's work as well as the popular calendar Your Daily Male 2019 with 365 works of male art, available later this year.
