On Sunday, the activist group Voices4 hosted an action of queer solidarity in Washington Square Park in New York City.
The rally was centered around a figure drawn in chalk and outlined in flowers and stones meant to represent queer people in Brunei and queer suffering all around the world. Two members held a sign that read "Stone One of Us, Face All of Us," which was flanked by the trans and Philly pride flags. In front of the flags were two members hooded in pink burlap sacks.
These figures, which have become a visual theme in Voices4 actions, are called "The Voiceless" and they represent queer people everywhere who have been silenced.
"When united we are a more powerful entity than any government," said Voices4 founder Adam Eli at the rally. "If we embrace the idea that queer people anywhere must be responsible for queer people anywhere then we will be unstoppable."
