Jill Stein is following through on her promise.
The Green Party presidential candidate has filed for a recount in Wisconsin, meeting the state's Friday deadline.
“BREAKING: We've filed in Wisconsin! #Recount2016 will begin next week. Volunteer to help: https://t.co/Bvrs0iP3lv https://t.co/B7tS87ggpI”— Dr. Jill Stein🌻 (@Dr. Jill Stein🌻) 1480111008
The move follows a successful fundraising campaign, in which Stein raised more than $5 million dollars in three days in order to demand recounts in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. A new goal, raised to $7 million, will cover attorney and filing fees.
Previously, computer scientists had come forward with fears that some electronic voting machines may have been hacked. Polls before the election had shown these states -- Pennsylvania and Wisconsin went red on Election Day, and Michigan is still too close to call -- leaning toward Hillary Clinton.
At present, Clinton has won the popular vote by over 2 million. If the recount comes out in her favor, she will also best Donald Trump in the Electoral College.
In addition to donations, Stein is also seeking volunteers to help in Wisconsin's recount, which will commence next week. Those interested in assisting can sign up on Jill2016.com.
