Forty-five calls Jr. a "high-quality person" after emails are released.
On Tuesday, Donald Trump Jr. broke the internet when he tweeted out emails that showed him expressing interest in meeting with a Russian lawyer who promised "incriminating information" related to Hillary Clinton as part of the Russian government's effort to help his father win the presidency.
Trump Jr.'s response to the offer: "I love it."
Many felt this revelation was a smoking gun on the question of whether the Trump team colluded with Russian officials to win last year's election.
Not surprisingly, President Trump did not see it that way. In a statement, Trump Sr. defended his son:
"My son is a high-quality person and I applaud his transparency."
Trump Sr. offered more support for his son on Twitter, saying "he is a great person who loves our country" and praising his appearance on The Sean Hannity Show Tuesday night.
“My son Donald did a good job last night. He was open, transparent and innocent. This is the greatest Witch Hunt in political history. Sad!”— Donald J. Trump (@Donald J. Trump) 1499854772
When asked for further comment Tuesday, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to answer any additional questions on the matter and referred reporters to Trump Jr.'s legal team.
While she may not have had more to say on the matter, others on Twitter certainly did.
Jose Deynes is loving the fact that "but the emails" actually ended up being true, in a way.
“@CNN @StCollinson Irony? Karma?Donald Trump Jr.'s EMAILS represent the most direct evidence of meetings with the Trump campaign and Russia...not longer "fake"”— CNN (@CNN) 1499852567
Jr. released a statement saying he would have done things differently. Some people felt the need to "translate" that statement -- like this helpful citizen.
Some people took issue with Trump praising Jr.'s "transparency."
“@marywieseman @ABC Pretty sure owning up after getting caught does NOT = "transparency."”— ABC News (@ABC News) 1499798954
Some people expressed concern for Jr.
“@AP This will be the prelude to throwing Jr. under the bus 🚍”— The Associated Press (@The Associated Press) 1499797919
While others took issue with the way Trump described Jr.
“@TwitterMoments Hi Quality and transparent sounds like something the Waterbody would say”— Twitter Moments (@Twitter Moments) 1499801127
Luso the dog wasn't worried about the previous denials -- he thinks Jr. did a great job. (Some dogs bark at their own shadows; some dogs have Twitter accounts where they share their political insights.)
Plenty of people heard Trump's statement and shared images of some of the best transparency they could think of.
Bigly transparent.
“@TwitterMoments @CParks777 @POTUS Equally high-quality transparency.”— Twitter Moments (@Twitter Moments) 1499801127
High-quality use of Tropic Thunder meme. Winning.

We're going to be transparent about this -- Jennifer's sass made us laugh.
“@QuinnLisaq @TwitterMoments @POTUS You can't be THAT tired of "Rusia." You haven't even learned to spell it properly yet. https://t.co/GdKWEQjYzL”— Twitter Moments (@Twitter Moments) 1499801127
