WATCH: Barney Frank Dishes on Cynicism and the Macarena With Seth Meyers

Out former congressman Barney Frank appeared on last night's episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers and opened up about his feelings regarding a new documentary on his life. While Frank admitted he felt "weird" watching a documentary about himself, he took the opportunity to speak about the modern-day cynicism surrounding politics. "There's an excessive degree of cynicism about politics which is unfortunately a self-fulfilling prophecy," he said." Because people will say, 'They're all bums, I'm not voting.' Well, the bums wish you wouldn't vote, because they're all fine. They're all set."

Frank also told the talk show host he was happy with the way the film depicted him as a gay man, considering the continually evolving attitudes of society in regards to same-sex marriage. "By the time I retired, there was still a disparity between the popularity of being gay and the popularity of being a politician," Frank said. "But it had flipped, and my marriage had polled better than my service as a committee chairman."

During the interview, Frank also told a number of charming and funny stories about his life, including his lifelong "war with inanimate objects," the inherent sloppiness that he believes stems from being left-handed in a right-handed world, and banning the Macarena from his wedding reception.
