Capitol Hill was decked out in glitz and glamour on Saturday night for the 101st annual White House Correspondents' Dinner.
The yearly event, which brings together the nation's most powerful political figures and the media professionals who freuqently cover them, was particularly star-studded this year, with trans actress Laverne Cox, broadcast journalist Katie Couric, and other popular celebrities like Bradley Cooper, Jane Fonda, and Martha Stewart in attendance.
The night reached its pinnacle with President Obama's lighthearted and comic speech, in which he he managed to crack more than a few clever jokes at the expense of many a political opponent.
He poked fun at Republican Rick Santorum's recent comments on same-sex marriage...
And he gave the audience a hilarious quip about his closeness with Vice President Joe Biden and the controversy surrounding an Indiana business, Memories Pizza, whose owners said they would not cater a same-sex wedding reception.
