President Trump's nominee for administrator of NASA is an idealogue fixated on the past, according to a letter from Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) to the Senate's Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

Murray writes to the committee's chairman and ranking member -- John Thune and Bill Nelson, respectively -- that she opposes the nomination of Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.) to head NASA. Bridenstine has not only shown deep animus for Muslims, women, and LGBT people, Murray writes, he's a climate change denier. If he was to be confirmed, he would also be the first politician to head the space agency.
