As the year closes, the Gill Foundation is opening itself up to a new leader. Brad Clark, who currently serves as vice president of partnerships, will be promoted to president and CEO of the organization January 1. He will succeed Courtney Cuff, who has joined the Hopewell Fund.

The Gill Foundation is one of the leading donors to LGBT causes by making grants to nonprofit organizations that advance equality. It funds research and education, develop public policy, and focus on securing change to public policies at the state level.

Clark joined the foundation in 2015 and currently leads the organization in building strategic relationships to increase and diversify funding for LGBT causes. Clark shares the Gill Foundation's emphasis on engaging change on the state level; he previously served as campaign director of One Iowa, where he led successful marriage equality and safe schools campaigns. As the director of Iowa Safe Schools, he led a coalition of education, civil rights, labor, faith, and business leaders to pass legislation that would protect LGBT Iowans from discrimination.

At the Gill Foundation, Clark branched out past his home state of Iowa to help secure civil unions, safe schools, and trans-inclusive health care in his adopted state of Colorado. He also launched an LGBT equality campaign in the Deep South.

"Brad's bold leadership, stalwart determination, and innovative vision will build upon the remarkable work of the Foundation's brilliant team," Tim Gill, the foundation's founder, and his husband, Scott Miller, who serves on the board, wrote in a memo to staff. "There's simply no one more prepared or qualified to build on Courtney's great legacy and carry forward our commitment to advance and defend equality for all LGBT Americans."
