Britney Spears is known for many things -- hit songs, a Broadway spectacular, an enviable body -- but not necessarily politics.

Surprisingly, the pop star weighed in on the immigration debate with an Instagram post on Friday night, where she urged Congress to protect people brought to this country as children, commonly called Dreamers. She also included a link for Dreamers and supporters to get involved.

Spears urged Congress to pass the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival Act, commonly called the DREAM Act, and wore a t-shirt that read, "WE ARE ALL DREAMERS."

President Trump ended the Obama-era DREAM Act this year, calling on Congress to come up with a replacement; that has yet to occur. The immigration status of approximately 700,000 people brought to this country as undocumented children now hangs in the balance. A DACA replacement was initially planned as part of the Republican-led tax overhaul that Trump just signed, but that didn't come to pass. Congress may take up the issue when lawmakers return from the holiday break.

Barely out of her teens, Spears infamously offered support to then-President George W. Bush shortly after the 9/11 attacks. More recently, the Louisiana native supported the presidential candidacy of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
