Staunchly anti-gay lawyer and Donald Trump appointee Kyle Duncan has been confirmed as a federal judge in New Orleans's 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. Trump appointed Duncan to the position in February and on May 29, he was confirmed to the lifetime appointment in a 50-47 vote, according to Gay Star News.
Among Duncan's greatest anti-LGBT hits he, "Asked the Supreme Court to uphold Louisiana's marriage ban, asked the Supreme Court to strike down a Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals decision striking down a marriage ban, defended Louisiana in the Supreme Court from having to legally recognize same-sex marriages from other states, and asked the Supreme Court to uphold a Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals decision denying visitation rights to a same-sex parent," according to Lambda Legal.
But that's not all. Trump's anti-gay pick also filed an amicus brief in response to the famous Obergefell v. Hodges case that ushered in national marriage equality questioning the legitimacy of the Supreme Court's decision and claiming the decision would "imperil civic peace."
Next up, Duncan targeted trans kids when he defended North Carolina's dangerous HB2 that forces kids to use the bathroom that corresponds to their biological sex and not their gender identity, according to Lambda Legal.
If targeting wide swaths of trans kids weren't enough, Duncan then moved on to going after a single trans teen when he defended the school district student Gavin Grimm sued for barring him from using the restroom that aligned with his gender identity.
