Leslie Cockburn, the Democratic congressional candidate for Virginia's 5th District, used an interesting tactic to highlight something odd about her Republican opponent, Denver Riggleman. Cockburn posted a tweet with screenshots from Riggleman's Instagram account that show a sketch of a naked Bigfoot with his gentials censored out; Cockburn deemed her opponent a "devotee of Bigfoot erotica" (she also attacked Virginia GOP Senate candidate Corey Stewart in the same tweet, accusing him of cavorting with racists).

Cockburn later posted another screenshot from her opponent's Instragam, from what she called his "Bigfoot erotica collection," with a similarly naked yet censored sketch of Bigfoot, this time with Riggleman's head photoshopped on the body.

Riggleman denied Cockburn's implications, insisting that the image on his Instagram came from a book he authored that stood as a "long-running prank" between him in his friends, called The Mating Habits of Bigfoot and Why Women Love Him. Regardless, Cockburn's tweets understandbly drew attention, and with nearly 15,000 replies on the first one, some were noteworthy and others hilarious.

One reply pointed out Riggleman had been featured on a Facebook author page accrediting his work until it was recently deleted.

Other Twitter users were more focused on what they deemed to be Riggleman's worst offenses -- which didn't include the Bigfoot porn.

Some wanted proof that if Riggleman was into Bigfoot porn, he was really into it.

Some thought that there were enough "Bigfoots" on Capitol Hill already.

Others pointed out that Riggleman maintained his traditional values even when it came to his alleged fetishes.

Some were upset that the tweet had popped up on their timelines for other reasons.

Some Twitter users came to Riggleman's defense.

And others have just been watching too much Scooby Doo.
